FBI showrunner Mike Weiss has teased OA and Gemma’s relationship status in season 7, indicating what the next steps are for the couple moving forward. OA (Zeeko Zaki) and Gemma (Comfort Clinton) began their relationship in season 6, having some rockiness along the way after one of her friends became the subject of a case being investigated. However, FBI season 7 has already laid the groundwork for the pair to become even closer romantically. Although it’s still not clear if they’ll have more issues to deal with as the series progresses.
Speaking with TV Insider, Weiss teased OA and Gemma’s decision to get more serious with their relationship in FBI season 7, potentially moving in together. The showrunner also teases how OA’s downtown life and Gemma’s uptown life clash, with the Special Agent trying to adjust to a world that is wholly unfamiliar to him. Check out what Weiss had to say below:
This season, they’re going to take a couple of important steps. There’s going to be a possible cohabitation. There’s going to be maybe the really big step we’re toying with the idea of what does it look like if OA decides to commit to Gemma?
We’re going to get to see him get kind of sucked into her uptown life, and we know that OA is a downtown or actually an outer borough guy. And so he’s going to be struggling with a little bit of the morality of that world versus the one that he comes from. She’s a great actress, and we love being able to include Gemma in our show.
What Weiss’ Statement Means For OA & Gemma In FBI Season 7
The Pair Want To Make Their Relationship Last
While Gemma will show up in the newest episode, the storyline Weiss teases will be a multi-episode relationship, something that will no doubt result in new developments for her and OA’s characters.
The cast of FBI season 7 has taken a major hit, with Katherine Renee Kane’s Tiffany Wallace having left the series. However, this alteration to the team dynamic hasn’t stopped them from tackling important cases, like in season 7, episode 2, “Trusted,” wherein Gemma will appear. The episode focuses on a suburban couple’s murder with evidence pointing to the home’s previous owner, if not for the fact they’ve been imprisoned for 10 years. The episode also teases OA reuniting with someone he knew in the military. He’ll also be attending dinner with Gemma, as evidenced by a TV Insider image.

While Gemma will show up in the newest episode, the storyline Weiss teases will be a multi-episode relationship, something that will no doubt result in new developments for her and OA’s characters. It seems she’ll be taking him into a lifestyle he’s not entirely used to, trying to progress their relationship as he delves into more unfamiliar territory with her. Since he appears dedicated to being with her, their relationship seems like it’s only at the beginning. This could make season 7 setup for FBI season 8 as they navigate their romance more seriously.
Our Take On OA & Gemma’s Relationship Developments In FBI Season 7
It Could Be Good For OA To Finally Settle Down
Given the longevity of their relationship so far, it wouldn’t be surprising if Gemma and OA’s romance continues to grow ever more important to one another as the series progresses. Since they’re still slowly moving along as their feelings continue to bloom, it seems FBI season 7 will be focusing on them finally coming to understand one another on a deeper level. We think this could be good for the Special Agent, who finally has a chance to settle down with someone who genuinely cares for and understands him.
