Today we want to put the spotlight on ILLUSTRATIVE, one of the most important platforms for contemporary illustration, graphic art and design here in Berlin. Founded in 2006 by gallery owner Pascal Johanssen and Katja Kleiss this unique artistic exhibition is held in Berlin every two years, to capture the variety and creativity of the visual culture of today. This weekend, ILLUSTRATIVE is kicking off once again bringing together illustrators, artists, collectors and art-fans, and showcasing the latest trends of illustrative art from all over the world. Read more about it, after the jump!
The 10-day festival program gives you the chance to have a closer look at sculptures, installations, animated films, paintings, drawings, and graphic editions of young talents who anticipate the trend-setting movements in our contemporary culture. Special guest-land of this year’s ILLUSTRATIVE is Poland, showing its renowned visual art and illustration tradition with the exhibition Where I come from. Besides the main exhibition, the festival includes also workshops, live paintings, a film program, and of course parties. Art, design and craft are brought together at Direktorenhaus in Berlin-Mitte, for an extraordinary experience starting on Saturday August 31st, until the 8th of September 2013. Here below there’s a sneak preview of the variety of works you will be able to admire at the festival. Enjoy!
